Decent answer abroad
If for some reason you decide not to go abroad for the May holidays, do not worry. In our country, too, there are many interesting places that will impress even the most experienced travelers. Passion.ru chose domestic attractions that are in no way inferior in beauty and importance to their world-famous “brothers.”
Lena Pillars, Yakutia
If you want to see landscapes worthy of box office Hollywood movies, then head straight to Siberia. No, not to hard labor, but to personally admire the Lena Pillars – limestone rocks 200-300 meters high, stretching along the Lena River for almost 70 km. By the way, the age of this “wall”, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is approximately 540-560 million years. Well, in order to fully experience the importance and greatness of the moment, arm yourself with a magnifying glass (and patience) to find there a real, ancient cave painting, representing images of animals, people, mystical symbols and mysterious signs painted directly on the rocks with red and yellow paint .
Swallow’s Nest, Crimea
Surely almost every one of you at least once rested in the Crimea (even if not in recent years, then you probably visited this iconic place with your parents in childhood). And for sure you saw the unusual palace Swallow’s Nest, proudly towering over the Black Sea. By the way, the first building on a 40-meter-high rock appeared at the end of the 19th century and served as a summer residence for a retired general who called his “summer residence” lovingly “Castle of Love”. Further, the building changed its owners and appearance, and in 1911 it was bought by Baron Steingel, who decided to build a castle in the Gothic style. So there was a 12-meter “bird house”, which subsequently survived many more renovations and hosts. At one time, the building managed to appear in the films “Ten Little Indians”, “Myo, My Myo”, “The Journey of Pan Blots”, in “The Blue Bird”, where Elizabeth Taylor and Jane Fonda played, in “The First Blow” with Jackie Chan and so on, and today cultural events are taking place here.
Charsky Sands, Trans-Baikal Territory
Travelers who dream of deserts, dunes and dunes are recommended to take a closer look at Charsky Sands in the north of the Trans-Baikal Territory. The “sandbox”, whose length reaches about 10 km and a width of 5, is surrounded by the mountains of the Kodarsky ridge, where snow caps are visible even in summer, it boasts, if not the steppe caravans of camels, then no less magnificent reindeer. If you have already decided that you are going there, then do not forget to register in the department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kalarsky District so that you can easily travel around this territory as a tourist.
Koyashskoe Lake, Kerch Peninsula
Girls dreaming of “pink unicorns” and other attributes of the fairy-tale world will certainly appreciate the original Koyashsky lake. This is a lake with an area of about 5 square meters. km, and a depth of 1 m., is located in the Crimea on the territory of the Opuk National Reserve and affects not only the unusual color of the water. Some time ago there was a mud volcano at this place, then salt was mined there, so “splashing” in such water can replace cosmetic procedures. By the way, for those who are looking for a special location for photo shoots, we recommend you look here in late summer – early autumn, when part of the water begins to evaporate in the lake, exposing the picturesque salt “icebergs”.
Cape Stolbchaty, Sakhalin
Ribbed walls rising from the water by 40-50 meters from a distance resemble an original and majestic organ, at the foot of which the collapsed parts of the rocks are “scattered” picturesquely scattered. This is a miracle of nature – Cape Stolbchaty – can be found on the island of Kunashir, in the south of the Kuril Islands, so if you suddenly looked for something special, then go straight there. Just remember that in those places they often meet bears, so try not to make such an adventure alone.
Kronotsky hill, Kamchatka
The volcano, reaching a height of 3528 meters, is located in Kamchatka, in one of the oldest reserves in the country, where there are thermal lakes, waterfalls, the Valley of Geysers and even about 20 “younger brothers” hills, including 8 active ones. The Kronotsky hill, of course, is inferior in popularity to the famous Japanese volcano, but it can also impress even the most selective travelers. So, for example, unlike Fujiyama, which has not spewed lava for about 300 years, our “compatriot” has been quite active and is so “raging” that experts are able to fix permanent geological and seismological processes inside it.
Elton Lake, Volgograd Region
If you did not already know that in the Volgograd region there is a “replicated” attraction, with an area of just over 150 square meters. km, then it’s time to fix this gap. This is a lake where salt was actively mined during the time of Ivan the Terrible.
